What may be driving the move

No news or market data found so far explains this rise. The available derivatives data may indicate added exposure, but does not establish what initiated the move.

May have added to the moveUnlikely

From Oct 26, 13:00 UTC to Oct 27, 13:00 UTC, open interest in coin units rose 7.37%. Funding was positive at 0.005% per four-hour period, consistent with longs paying shorts. This could have amplified a rise if long positions added buying pressure, but does not show that happened.

What is not shown: Open interest does not reveal position direction or net inflows; funding was not shown trending, and buyer-initiated derivatives volume share fell to 46.34% from 54.43% (S8). No liquidation timing is provided.

What is still unknown

What, if anything, triggered the rise, and did derivatives positioning amplify it? Timing and direction of position changes and liquidations are unknown.

Ethereum developers merged a fix for a flaw in the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade that could have let an operator withdraw ETH staking services deposited for new validators, CoinDesk reported. Researcher Avsetsin described the flaw, which depended on how Lido, Origin and Rocket Pool handle deposits; no losses were reported. The fix was first rejected on October 19 and merged Monday.
