Kalshi adds bitcoin-backed margin loans for perpetual futures clients
Kalshi Prime clients will be able to borrow against bitcoin, ethereum and GENIUS Act-compliant stablecoins held at BitGo and use the proceeds to margin perpetual futures on Kalshi's exchange, Bitcoin Magazine reported, citing Bloomberg's earlier report. Loans are issued by Kalshi Katalyst under a tri-party structure; Prime CEO Jeff Bandman said the product targets crypto-native traders. It follows Webull's plan to offer Kalshi-cleared perpetuals to eligible U.S. customers from November.

Claims and open questions
What sources claim
- Bitcoin Magazine reported that Kalshi Prime customers can borrow against digital assets held at BitGo Bank & Trust and use the proceeds to fund margin positions on perpetual futures traded on Kalshi's main exchange.
- Prime CEO Jeff Bandman told the outlet the product was designed for crypto-native traders, including those active on unregulated offshore perpetual venues and large holders who would rather not sell their bitcoin.
- Webull Group President and U.S. CEO Anthony Denier said in the company's release that perpetual futures saw more than $90 trillion in global volume in 2025, per the report.
Still unresolved
- What interest rates, collateral haircuts and loan limits will apply to the Kalshi Katalyst loans? A Kalshi or BitGo disclosure or regulatory filing would confirm the terms.
- Which additional custodians Kalshi expects to join its lending network, and on what timeline? An official Kalshi announcement would confirm this.
